Job Overview
RCL Foods is looking for energetic, reliable, and customer-focused Code 10 Driver Salesmen to join the baking business unit in Kokstad. The successful candidates will transport and deliver bread and confectionery products to customers, while also promoting sales and maintaining excellent customer service. Drivers will report directly to the Distribution Manager.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 certificate
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence
- Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
Skills
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to read and write clearly
- Good numerical skills
- Strong customer service abilities
- Ability to work under pressure
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years FMCG driving experience
- Experience delivering and selling FMCG products
- Cash handling experience
- Experience dealing with retail stores and traders
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Vehicle and Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle
- Wear prescribed PPE clothing and equipment
- Conduct vehicle inspections before trips
- Report vehicle faults immediately
- Follow road safety regulations at all times
- Report accidents, theft, or damages immediately
- Ensure safe transportation of goods and passengers
Stock and Loading Duties
- Verify stock loaded against delivery orders
- Report stock shortages or discrepancies
- Assist with loading when required
- Inspect product quality before deliveries
- Ensure safe vehicle loading procedures
Customer Service and Sales
- Build strong relationships with customers
- Increase daily sales and attract new customers
- Promote company products and promotions
- Report customer complaints or losses
- Maintain professional and respectful behaviour
Delivery Responsibilities
- Deliver correct stock quantities to customers
- Secure customer orders for future deliveries
- Recover and return delivery crates daily
- Assist with emergency deliveries when required
- Ensure all customers receive service on time
Cash and Administration Duties
- Safeguard cash and company property
- Complete invoices and delivery documents accurately
- Record route and delivery information correctly
- Conduct daily cash-ups with supervisors
- Ensure paperwork balances with cash received
Teamwork Responsibilities
- Supervise and support van assistants
- Maintain a positive working relationship with team members
- Assist in other operational duties when required
Working Conditions
- Required to work weekends and public holidays
- Overtime may be required
- Must be available for standby duties
- May assist during driver absenteeism
