Job Description
Rand Water is inviting applications for the position of Gardener based in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This permanent opportunity is suitable for hardworking individuals who enjoy outdoor work, landscaping, and maintaining clean, safe, and attractive environments.
The successful candidate will form part of the EMS team and will be responsible for maintaining and developing landscapes and facilities using a variety of horticultural tools, machinery, and equipment. The role involves physically demanding work in a labour-intensive environment and requires candidates who are reliable, safety conscious, and able to follow instructions carefully.
The Gardener will perform general grounds maintenance duties such as lawn construction, grass cutting, weeding, sweeping, watering plants, and keeping outdoor areas neat and presentable. Candidates will also be responsible for applying fertilizers, compost, and chemicals as instructed to ensure healthy plant growth and well-maintained gardens.
The successful applicant will remove garden waste, load debris, and support site cleanliness by ensuring all waste materials are properly handled. The role also requires the use of specialised horticultural machinery such as lawnmowers, hand-held blowers, brush cutters, and clearing saws. Applicants must therefore be comfortable operating machinery safely and effectively.
From time to time, the Gardener may also assist with decorations, landscaping improvements, or construction support when required. Candidates should be flexible and willing to help with additional duties related to site maintenance.
Rand Water is looking for a candidate who can work well in a team, pay attention to detail, and maintain high safety standards at all times. Good communication skills and a positive attitude will be valuable in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas.
- Construct and repair lawns where required.

Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Six months relevant gardening or nursery experience.
- Ability to operate horticultural machinery.
- Basic safety knowledge.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
