Job Overview
Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is offering an exciting opportunity for unemployed youth to participate in a Visual Merchandiser Learnership within its Commercial (Sales and Marketing) division. This learnership provides structured, work-based learning aimed at developing commercial awareness, customer service capability, and in-store merchandising skills within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
The programme is designed for individuals who are passionate about sales, customer engagement, and brand execution, and who are seeking practical workplace experience aligned to a recognised qualification. The learnership runs for 12 months and combines theoretical learning with on-the-job training.
The successful learner will report to the Account Developer and work closely with sales teams to support customer service, merchandising execution, and order-taking processes within an assigned geographical area.
Purpose of the Learnership
The primary purpose of this learnership is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and workplace exposure required to:
- Service customers effectively
- Grow product availability and visibility
- Support order-taking processes
- Implement and monitor merchandising standards
- Understand consumer behaviour and retail execution principles
Participants will gain practical exposure to both direct and indirect customer environments, supporting Coca-Cola’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Areas of Interaction
The learner will interact with the following stakeholders:
- Sales Team Members: Collaborating on daily tasks, route execution, and sharing operational knowledge.
- Sales Account Developer: Receiving coaching, guidance, performance feedback, and support aligned to sales and safety standards.
- Customers and Consumers: Understanding shopper behaviour, preferences, and store-level requirements to support effective merchandising and sales execution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
In-Store Execution and Merchandising Excellence
- Execute daily call schedules across assigned bronze and tin outlets in line with planned objectives.
- Implement visual merchandising standards in accordance with approved brand guidelines.
- Ensure correct product placement, shelf rotation, and stock freshness to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain product availability and visibility in-store in line with RED standards and execution scorecard requirements.
- Complete required reporting, including the iRED survey, accurately and timeously.
- Assist customers with placing orders using the MyCCBA digital platform.
- Support the execution of promotional activities to enhance brand presence and customer engagement.
- Provide operational or route relief support when required and as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy (minimum 40% pass rate).
- Grade 12 Communication with English and one additional South African language (minimum 40% pass rate).
- South African citizen.
- Between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Unemployed at the time of appointment.
- Not currently enrolled in any learnership, internship, or full-time study programme.
- Must not have previously completed the same learnership or qualification at another organisation.
- Willing and able to work six days per week.
- No criminal record or adverse credit record.
- Willing to undergo criminal, ID, and qualification verification.
- A valid driver’s licence will be advantageous, as travel between stores may be required.
- A post-matric qualification in Sales and Marketing will be advantageous.
Employment Equity considerations will apply in line with company policy and applicable legislation.
Learnership Information
- This learnership leads to a recognised qualification requiring a minimum of 120 credits.
- The programme duration is 12 months.
- Learners will receive structured training, workplace exposure, and ongoing performance support throughout the programme.
