Job Overview
The South African Police Service (SAPS) invites suitably qualified and interested applicants to apply for Secretary positions within the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI). These posts are available at National Head Office and across various provincial offices nationwide.
The successful candidates will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to senior management and operational components within the DPCI. This role plays a key part in supporting effective service delivery through professional office administration, coordination, and communication support.
Appointments will be made in accordance with SAPS employment policies and applicable legislation. All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to vetting processes, including security screening, fingerprint verification, and background checks, to determine suitability for employment in a law enforcement environment.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing full secretarial and administrative support, including but not limited to:
- Rendering comprehensive secretarial services to senior managers and operational units.
- Typing and formatting correspondence, reports, memoranda, and presentations.
- Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.
- Making travel arrangements and processing subsistence and travel claims.
- Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, calls, and messages.
- Maintaining effective filing systems and document control.
- Providing administrative support during meetings, workshops, and official engagements.
- Managing confidential and sensitive information in line with SAPS policies.
- Performing general office administration duties, including inventory and resource control.
- Supporting operational efficiency through effective coordination and communication.
- Willingness to work extended hours when operational requirements demand.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) at NQF Level 4.
- Proficiency in at least two official South African languages, one of which must be English.
- South African citizenship.
- No criminal record or pending criminal cases.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in standard office applications.
- Strong communication, organisational, and administrative skills.
- Willingness to undergo vetting, security screening, fingerprint verification, and other verification processes.
- Relevant work experience and/or a tertiary qualification in administration or related fields will be an added advantage.
Conditions of Appointment
- Appointments will be made in terms of the Public Service Act, 1994.
- Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo interviews and practical assessments.
- All qualifications and driver’s licences submitted will be verified with relevant institutions.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a buccal (DNA) sample in line with applicable legislation.
- Persons who previously retired from the Public Service through severance packages, early retirement, or medical retirement are not eligible.
