Laundry Worker – Department of Health

  • Gauteng Department of Health is recruiting for Laundry Worker positions.
  • Number of posts available: 3.

  • Annual Salary Package: R144 024 per annum plus benefits.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10–12 or equivalent NQF Level 3–5 qualification.
  • Hospital environment and laundry experience will be an added advantage.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Willingness to work shifts when required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Distribute and collect linen from hospital wards.
  • Sluice and handle soiled or blood-stained linen safely.
  • Pack dirty linen into laundry bags for transport.
  • Load laundry bags onto trucks for delivery to the washing facility.
  • Offload and unpack clean linen received from the service provider.
  • Perform quarterly stocktaking duties.
  • Assist with general laundry and linen management tasks.
  • Work overtime and additional hours when required.
  • Support hospital operations by maintaining proper linen supply.
