Job Purpose
The Shop Assistant/Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the point of sale (POS), handling cash safely, promoting loyalty programmes, maintaining store merchandising standards, and creating a positive shopping experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently at the point of sale.
- Handle cash and other payment methods safely and according to company procedures.
- Promote and sign up customers for the Clicks ClubCard programme.
- Inform customers about current promotions, specials, and rewards.
- Deliver friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
- Assist with merchandising and stock display according to store standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping within the store.
- Keep up to date with products, promotions, and store events.
- Support the company’s vision and values through excellent customer interactions.
Required Knowledge
- Basic mathematics and numerical calculations.
- Understanding of retail and FMCG environments.
- Knowledge of merchandising and promotional activities.
- Understanding of stock management procedures.
