Job Purpose
The General Worker will provide general support within the retail environment, assist with stock handling, maintain cleanliness and security standards, and support daily store operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Grade 10 minimum.
- Grade 12 (Matric) will be advantageous.
- Previous experience in retail, warehouse, or agricultural environments is beneficial.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour.
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when required.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Support
- Provide general assistance throughout the retail store.
- Assist colleagues with operational tasks when required.
- Support efficient day-to-day business activities.
Stock Handling
- Receive, move, and handle stock.
- Assist with loading and unloading products.
- Ensure stock is stored correctly and safely.
- Support inventory control activities.
Retail and Store Maintenance
- Maintain shelves and displays.
- Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties.
- Ensure the store environment remains neat and organised.
Security and Loss Control
- Assist in maintaining security procedures.
- Support loss prevention efforts.
- Report any suspicious activities or stock discrepancies.
Agricultural Support
- Assist with handling irrigation materials such as:
- Pipes
- Fittings
- Irrigation equipment
Additional Duties
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail.
- Perform loading work and other manual tasks as required.
