Job Purpose
The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation standards across the workplace. The successful candidate will support operational efficiency by ensuring all assigned areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with food safety regulations.
This role plays an important part in minimizing contamination risks and helping the company maintain high-quality food production standards.
Key Responsibilities
Duties may include:
- Preparing work areas according to cleaning procedures and standards
- Washing pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment
- Cleaning windows, mirrors, glass partitions, and other surfaces
- Vacuuming offices and administrative areas
- Cleaning toilets, bathrooms, and change rooms
- Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors
- Emptying waste bins and disposing of rubbish appropriately
- Cleaning garbage containers and waste storage areas
- Operating and maintaining cleaning equipment safely
- Packing garments for laundering
- Deep-cleaning equipment according to scheduled cleaning plans
- Performing heavy-duty cleaning tasks when required
- Reporting maintenance issues and repair needs to management
- Working closely with team members to maintain hygiene standards
- Following food safety, health, and hygiene regulations
- Supporting compliance with HACCP and workplace safety requirements
- Maintaining cleanliness in all assigned workstations and departments
- Following company security and operational procedures
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 1 year cleaning experience
- Willingness to complete internal Food Safety and HACCP training
- Ability to work shifts according to operational requirements
- Ability to work weekends and public holidays when required
