Main Purpose

This position is for an experienced ultra-heavy motor vehicle driver responsible for transporting and distributing goods safely to various clients. The role focuses on safe driving, efficient delivery operations, and maintaining vehicle standards according to company and road safety regulations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and inspect the vehicle before trips
  • Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely
  • Load, transport, and offload goods
  • Ensure loads are properly secured before departure
  • Handle delivery documentation and related duties
  • Operate or oversee offloading equipment
  • Open and close tarpaulins where applicable
  • Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles, uniforms, and PPE
  • Follow SOPs and safety procedures
  • Provide professional customer service
  • Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 literacy level
  • Code EC driver’s license with a valid PrDP (DGP)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles
  • Must be 25 years or older
  • Experience with dry bulk tankers
  • Defensive driving knowledge
  • Knowledge of vehicle inspections and emergency procedures

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Must have a safe driving record
  • Clean criminal record required
  • Ability to maximize vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Knowledge of vehicle loading techniques and fire extinguisher use

Assessments and Training

Successful candidates may need to complete:

  • Medical evaluation
  • USCS training modules
  • Induction processes
  • Practical driving evaluation
  • Criminal record verification

Important Responsibilities

  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded according to the National Road Traffic Act
  • Ensure goods are safely offloaded
  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with customers
  • Adhere to all company safety and operational policies
