Job Overview
Curro is seeking a passionate and motivated YES Candidate: Student Teacher to join HeronBridge in Fourways. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about education and eager to gain classroom experience while supporting learner development. The successful candidate will assist teachers with classroom activities, learner support, administration, and extracurricular programmes within a values-driven educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
The appointed candidate will assist educators in daily teaching and classroom duties to ensure effective learning and learner engagement. Responsibilities include helping manage classroom organisation, supporting classroom discipline, and assisting with communication between learners, parents, and teachers.
The role also involves planning and managing homework activities, revisions, reading programmes, and monitoring learner progress according to grade requirements. Candidates will support classroom preparation and setup to create an environment that promotes effective teaching and learning.
In addition, the Student Teacher will assist with planning and coordinating extracurricular activities, school outings, and learner development programmes. The position requires flexibility, professionalism, and a willingness to work extended hours when required by school activities or events.
Requirements and Skills
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd) qualification and have knowledge of the CAPS curriculum. Candidates should demonstrate strong facilitation, problem-solving, organisational, and report-writing skills. Excellent communication and planning abilities are essential for this role.
Applicants must also be proficient in Microsoft Office, registered with SACE, and possess a clear criminal record. The school requires candidates who are professional, learner-focused, adaptable, and capable of working effectively within a school environment.
