Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Food Service Assistant to join our Tsebo Catering team based in Johannesburg. As a Food Service Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and beverages, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and service areas. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality food preparation and delivering exceptional service to customers in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation and Service:
- Prepare high-quality meals, fast foods, and sandwiches for branded outlets.
- Ensure that all food is prepared quickly while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
- Assist in the serving of food and beverages to customers in a professional manner.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by creating a warm, sincere rapport with customers.
- Maintain positive and effective communication with customers to ensure their satisfaction.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Hygiene and Cleanliness:
- Maintain strict hygiene standards in food preparation areas, including regular cleaning of work surfaces and kitchen equipment.
- Assist with washing up and waste removal to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Stock and Inventory:
- Assist with stock-taking and ensure that all items are accurately recorded.
- Follow loss prevention guidelines to reduce waste and ensure efficient use of resources.
- General Responsibilities:
- Carry out special duties or tasks outside the usual daily routine when necessary, ensuring that all duties fall within the overall scope of the position.
- Adhere to all workplace behaviour standards and Tsebo’s policies and procedures.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent Customer Service:
- Strong focus on delivering outstanding customer experiences and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Ability to handle customer requests and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
- Communication Skills:
- Clear and professional communication with customers, team members, and management.
- Ability to effectively convey information and maintain a positive work environment.
- Ability to Work Under Pressure:
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment, ensuring the timely delivery of food and service.
- Adaptable to changing work conditions and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a Food Service Assistant or in a similar role within the food service or catering industry is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification is required.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in food service or customer-facing roles is an advantage.
