About the Role:
UNITRANS is seeking a General Worker to join the team at the Safripol Warehouse in Tulisa Park, Gauteng. This role is ideal for an individual who is dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks in a busy warehouse environment.
The General Worker will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the premises, including general housekeeping, notifying management of any repairs required, and ensuring the work environment remains clean, safe, and well-organized. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can perform tasks independently and work collaboratively with the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning & Housekeeping:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks to maintain the warehouse environment, including sweeping, mopping, and removing waste.
- Ensure all areas are clean and hygienic, contributing to a safe and efficient workplace.
- Maintenance & Repairs:
- Notify building management of any required repairs or maintenance issues.
- Ensure that all work areas are in good condition and promptly address any cleanliness concerns.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure that safety standards are adhered to.
- Handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning safely and in line with established safety guidelines.
- General Housekeeping:
- Maintain a tidy and organized work area at all times.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of materials in accordance with company policies.
- Physical Tasks:
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling repetitively throughout the workday.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Experience & Skills:
- Medically fit and able to perform physical tasks.
- Reliable and able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of proper storage and disposal methods for cleaning materials.
- Must have own reliable transport to and from work.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Clean criminal record and good track record of workplace safety.
