About the Opportunity
Tiger Brands is offering a Workplace Experience opportunity for students and graduates in Food Technology, Food Science, or Biotechnology. This programme provides practical workplace exposure in quality control, food safety, laboratory practices, and manufacturing processes within the food production industry.
Main Responsibilities
1. Quality Control Support
- Assist with product inspections and quality checks during production
- Support monitoring of product quality standards and specifications
- Record and report defects or quality deviations
- Assist with testing of finished products and in-process products
2. Documentation and Record Management
- Maintain quality records, reports, and laboratory documentation
- Assist with updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure quality documents are properly filed and easily accessible
3. Quality Assurance Activities
- Support internal audits and compliance checks
- Assist with investigations into customer complaints and non-conformances
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes
- Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programmes (OPRPs)
4. Process Improvement
- Assist in identifying opportunities for quality improvement
- Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in improvement projects within production and quality departments
- Conduct moisture checks, cook tests, weight verification, and appearance assessments
- Assist with raw material analysis according to specifications
- Follow good laboratory practices in chemistry and microbiology sampling
5. Health, Safety and Compliance
- Follow all workplace health and safety regulations
- Ensure compliance with food safety and manufacturing standards
- Maintain hygiene standards in laboratory and production environments
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be:
- Currently studying towards an in-service training qualification, or
- Have completed a Diploma or Degree in:
- Food Technology
- Food Science
- Biotechnology
