CARE WORKER – MEDICLINIC PIETERMARITZBURG

Mediclinic Southern Africa is currently recruiting for a permanent Care Worker position at Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The main purpose of the role is to support nursing unit staff in delivering quality patient care that meets the healthcare needs of patients. The Care Worker will assist nurses and healthcare professionals with daily patient-related activities while maintaining hospital standards and procedures. Candidates applying for this role should be committed to patient wellbeing, teamwork, and excellent service delivery within a healthcare setting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and assist nursing staff in delivering quality patient care within a team environment.
  • Assist in creating a positive patient experience through professional and compassionate care.
  • Identify and report risks or incidents according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support within the nursing unit when required.
  • Assist with stock control to ensure medical supplies are used efficiently and charged accurately.
  • Participate in continuous learning and development activities to improve workplace competence and healthcare knowledge.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Essential Education

  • Appropriate qualification as a Care Worker.

Desired Education

  • Grade 12 qualification.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment.

Desired Experience

  • No additional experience required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of stock control principles.
  • Knowledge of reporting and documenting events or tasks.
  • Understanding of medico-legal risks within healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of administrative duties and hospital procedures.
  • Understanding of patient experience and patient care principles.
  • Application of infection prevention and control principles.
