Midvaal Local Municipality is inviting applications for the position of General Worker: Development & Planning. Salary
Successful candidates will receive a salary ranging from R158,844 to R174,012 per year.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the General Worker position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 10 qualification
- At least one year of relevant experience as a cleaner, preferably within a local government authority or similar environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to understand and communicate in English
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Good physical health to perform cleaning and maintenance duties
- Strong work ethic and self-discipline
Applicants must also have knowledge of cleaning procedures and the proper use and storage of cleaning materials.
Job Responsibilities
The General Worker will be responsible for ensuring that municipal offices and related facilities remain clean, organised, and safe for both staff members and visitors.
Cleaning and Hygiene Maintenance
The successful candidate will perform a variety of cleaning duties, including:
- Sweeping and mopping floors
- Vacuuming carpets and office areas
- Cleaning bathrooms and maintaining hygiene standards
- Emptying trash bins and replacing liners
- Disposing of general office waste appropriately
These tasks are essential for maintaining a professional and hygienic work environment.
Maintenance of Office Facilities
The employee will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of key areas within the department, including:

- Meeting and boardroom areas

Refreshments and Meeting Preparation
The role also includes assisting with basic hospitality duties such as:
- Serving tea and coffee to staff members and visitors

- Setting out water decanters, glasses, and refreshments before meetings
These tasks help support departmental functions and meetings.
Administrative Assistance
When cleaning tasks are completed, the General Worker may assist with minor office administration duties where necessary. The employee will also be expected to carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Additional Duties
