Clinix Health Group is currently recruiting two Pharmacy Stock Controllers to join the pharmacy department at Tshepo Themba Private Hospital in Soweto. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in stock management within a healthcare environment who are interested in contributing to efficient hospital operations.

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing pharmaceutical stock and ensuring that hospital departments have access to the necessary medical supplies. The role requires attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a healthcare team.


Job Overview

The Pharmacy Stock Controller will take full responsibility for managing and controlling pharmaceutical stock within the hospital. This includes monitoring stock levels, conducting audits, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring that supplies are ordered and distributed efficiently.

The role also involves working closely with different hospital departments to maintain accurate stock records and ensure the availability of essential medical items.

Effective stock management is critical in a healthcare setting, as it ensures that patient care is not disrupted due to shortages or stock mismanagement.


Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the position:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
  • 0 to 4 years of experience in stock control, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Knowledge and experience working with pharmaceutical stock control systems
  • Familiarity with consignment stock and theatre stock management
  • Computer proficiency, preferably with systems such as SAP or similar inventory management systems

Experience providing administrative support within a hospital environment will be considered an advantage.


Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Stock Controller will be responsible for a range of tasks aimed at maintaining efficient stock control within the hospital.

Stock Monitoring and Ordering

The successful candidate will assist the theatre and pharmacy departments by maintaining appropriate stock levels. This includes compiling stock orders based on minimum and maximum stock requirements to ensure that essential supplies are always available.

Stock Counting and Auditing

Regular stock counts will be conducted to minimise stock loss and ensure that items are properly rotated. Cyclic counting helps maintain accurate inventory records and ensures compliance with hospital policies.

Handling Surgical Stock

The role includes barcoding and packing surgical items to ensure they are correctly recorded and tracked within the hospital’s inventory system.

Issuing and Transferring Stock

The stock controller will pick and capture items that need to be issued to the theatre, wards, or other hospital units. The role may also involve capturing stock transfers between hospitals to ensure proper record keeping.

Processing Documentation

The position requires verifying and signing off credit slips once they have been reconciled by the data capture team. In addition, the stock controller may be required to capture invoices when the data capturer is unavailable.

Reducing Waste and Improving Efficiency

The role requires adherence to the principles of lean management, which focus on reducing unnecessary waste and improving operational efficiency. This includes managing stock carefully to prevent losses while ensuring that patient care is never compromised.


Teamwork and Collaboration
