Role Purpose
The purpose of the Sales Consultant role is to virtually manage and grow allocated customer accounts while driving sales performance and customer satisfaction. The position involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative telecommunications solutions that support business growth.
The successful candidate will also ensure that customer needs are fully understood and addressed through tailored service offerings while achieving commercial and sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Customer Relationship Management
The Sales Consultant will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with key customers and ensuring ongoing engagement with accounts within the portfolio.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing customer relationships virtually while maintaining high levels of engagement and service delivery.
- Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Understanding customer needs, industry trends, and business goals in order to provide relevant solutions.
- Identifying opportunities to expand services and increase sales within existing accounts.
- Ensuring the delivery of products and services that meet customer expectations and timelines.
- Acting as the main point of communication between customers and internal teams.
- Handling escalated customer complaints and coordinating with relevant departments to resolve issues efficiently.
In addition, the Sales Consultant will generate new sales opportunities that contribute to long-term partnerships and business success.
Sales Planning and Pipeline Development
To achieve revenue targets, the Sales Consultant will also focus on developing and managing a strong sales pipeline.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining sales plans and account development strategies.
- Documenting customer engagement plans and monitoring sales performance.
- Tracking sales opportunities and managing the decision-making process within customer organizations.
- Identifying potential prospects and qualifying leads systematically.
- Ensuring sales prospects are effectively converted into successful deals.

Reporting and Sales Analysis
Another important part of the role involves monitoring sales performance and providing regular reports to stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing weekly and monthly run-rate and demand management reports.
- Conducting product-based sales analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Developing annual sales strategies and assisting with budget planning.
- Tracking key account metrics and forecasting future sales performance.
- Preparing account progress reports and recommendations to maximize revenue.
- Supporting strategic account planning and joint business initiatives with customers.
These reports help internal teams evaluate performance and identify new opportunities to grow the business.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sales and customer service, preferably within telecommunications or technology-related industries.
- Proven experience in managing enterprise or corporate customer accounts.
- Experience with solution-based selling strategies.
- Strong knowledge of the South African telecommunications and business landscape.
Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to translate customer business needs into relevant telecommunications solutions.
