A permanent opportunity is available for a dedicated and reliable Cleaner within the Food & Beverages industry, based in Bellville. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, particularly within a production environment.
The successful candidate will ensure that all designated areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with food safety standards. This position plays an important role in supporting operational efficiency and maintaining a hygienic production facility.
Job Overview
The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness across assigned areas using appropriate equipment and cleaning materials. The role requires strict adherence to food safety protocols, cleaning schedules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
This is a hands-on role within a fast-moving FMCG environment, requiring attention to detail, reliability, and a strong understanding of hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Housekeeping Duties
- Sweep floors in designated production areas (away from machinery)
- Scrub and clean drains thoroughly
- Empty trash bins and replace liners
- Maintain overall cleanliness of assigned workspaces
- Ensure designated areas remain clean and orderly at all times
Stock & Consumables Management
- Replenish consumables such as:
- Ear plugs
- Hair nets
- Beard covers
- Wrist covers
- Toilet paper
- Hand towels
- Monitor levels of cleaning stock and report shortages to the Line Manager
- Ensure adequate supplies are always available to maintain hygiene standards
Compliance & Documentation
- Carry out cleaning tasks according to the Master Cleaning Schedule
- Accurately complete area logbooks as required by SOPs
- Adhere to all Food Safety Standards
- Report any food safety concerns or issues to the Food Safety Team
- Support compliance with the Food Safety Management System
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring strict compliance with hygiene standards is essential in this role.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
Experience
- Proven working experience in a similar cleaning or hygiene role
- Experience within an FMCG or food production environment will be advantageous
Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices
- Ability to follow structured cleaning schedules
