A permanent opportunity is available for a General Worker Loader to join the Dispatch Department based in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. This role reports directly to the Dispatch Manager and plays a key part in ensuring the efficient loading and offloading of bread products on site.

Job Overview

The General Worker Loader will be responsible for loading and offloading bread according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role requires strict adherence to quality standards, stock rotation principles, and company policies to ensure that customers receive fresh, high-quality products.

This is a 6-day work position and includes weekend, public holiday, and rotating shift work.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Loading & Offloading
  • Offload and load bread according to established loading and offloading SOPs
  • Follow the correct pipeline sequence during loading and offloading
  • Ensure accurate tray counts and balance trays correctly within trucks
  • Confirm that only quality-approved bread is loaded and offloaded
  • Report any loading or offloading discrepancies to the Offloads Supervisor

Stock Control & Rotation
  • Ensure correct stock rotation using the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principle
  • Monitor stock movement and prevent product damage during handling
  • Maintain accuracy in tray counting and stock balancing
  • Report shortages, overages, or damaged goods promptly

Communication & Reporting
  • Attend daily invocoms (inventory communications meetings)
  • Report back on all loading and offloading matters to supervisors
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management
  • Escalate operational concerns where necessary

Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness and safety standards
  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times
  • Handle products carefully to prevent damages and losses

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
  • Basic numerical skills

Strong numerical ability is essential, as the role involves tray counting, balancing, and stock rotation tracking.


Experience Requirements
  • At least 3 months of experience in a similar role within the FMCG industry
  • Experience in loading, offloading, or warehouse operations will be advantageous
  • A valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence will be beneficial but is not mandatory

Previous experience in a bakery, distribution, or manufacturing environment will be considered an added advantage.

  • Regular lifting, carrying, and physical movement
