SPCC is currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join its Galleria store in KwaZulu-Natal.
Role Overview
The Shop Assistant plays a key role in ensuring customers enjoy a pleasant, engaging, and professional shopping experience. The position focuses on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining store standards, assisting with stock management, and supporting daily store operations.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
- Welcome customers warmly and provide high-quality service at all times
- Assist shoppers with product information, sizing, and fashion advice
- Recommend complementary items to increase basket value and enhance customer satisfaction
- Build positive relationships with repeat customers
Sales & Till Operations
- Accurately process customer purchases through point-of-sale systems
- Handle cash and card transactions responsibly
- Ensure receipts and returns are managed according to store policies
Merchandising & Visual Displays
- Ensure new and replenished stock is promptly placed on the sales floor
- Maintain attractive visual displays in line with brand guidelines
- Ensure ticketing and pricing are accurate and visible
Stock Control & Loss Prevention
- Assist with stock counts and inventory control procedures
- Support initiatives to minimise stock loss and shrinkage
- Ensure store equipment is properly secured and accounted for
Store Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Keep the sales floor clean, neat, and well-organised
- Ensure fitting rooms and display areas are presentable
- Follow health and safety rules at all times
Operational Support
- Assist the Store Manager with daily operational tasks
- Understand daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets
- Contribute to action plans aimed at achieving sales goals
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) – Required
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a retail or similar customer-facing environment
