Services SETA invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the position of Cleaner (JHB North). This permanent role is ideal for individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and dedicated to maintaining a hygienic and welcoming working environment.
The Cleaner will support the organisation’s daily housekeeping requirements while ensuring that all work areas remain neat, sanitised, and well-maintained. In addition, the role includes light hospitality duties, stock monitoring, and occasional administrative support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. General Housekeeping
- Follow and maintain the approved cleaning schedule.
- Clean and tidy offices, boardrooms, reception areas, passageways, and general-use spaces.
- Complete cleaning rosters as required by management.
- Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, and floors.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain all flooring surfaces.
- Dust office furniture, partitions, and equipment.
- Empty dustbins and dispose of waste at the designated collection point.
- Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using appropriate equipment.
- Wash windows, walls, sills, door panels, partitions, and woodwork.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is used safely and kept in good working condition.
2. Hospitality & Visitor Support
- Welcome visitors in a professional manner.
- Serve refreshments to staff and guests when required.
- Ensure beverages and hospitality supplies are always available (e.g., tea, coffee, sugar, milk).
3. Stock Management & Supplies
- Replenish bathroom stock and polish fixtures and fittings.
- Ensure adequate cleaning materials and consumables are available.
- Report low stock levels to the Provincial Manager/Senior Officer for timely replenishment.
- Conduct weekly or monthly stock counts of cleaning materials, utensils, and other consumables.
4. Administrative Assistance
- Assist with routine administrative tasks when required, including:
- Distribution of mail
- Photocopying and binding documents
- Faxing and filing
- Report building or equipment faults promptly.
5. Departmental Support
- Work closely with all units to maintain a clean, safe, and functional working environment.
- Support the optimisation of departmental operations by keeping workspaces orderly and hygienic.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Grade 10 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in corporate or office housekeeping will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work responsibly, follow instructions, and maintain professional conduct.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate politely with staff and visitors.
