The programme is SETA accredited, and on successful completion, learners will receive a SAQA-endorsed qualification relevant to the baking industry.

Programme Overview
The learnership will run for 12 months and includes:
- Structured theoretical learning
- Practical workplace experience in a production environment
- Coaching and mentorship from experienced industry professionals
- Exposure to the full baking process
- Skills and knowledge required by both RCL FOODS and the relevant SETA
Learners will work closely with the teams responsible for bakery operations and gain practical experience that aligns with industry needs. This includes understanding daily production processes, quality requirements, safety procedures, and the expectations of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Supreme Siyabhaka Academy
Learners participating in this programme will form part of the Supreme Siyabhaka Academy, an internal skills development initiative that focuses on quality training within the baking sector. The Academy is built on three main objectives:
1. Developing Skilled Learners
The Academy aims to nurture and grow young people into confident and capable baking professionals. This development helps address skills shortages within the baking industry and prepares participants for long-term employment.
2. Building Brand Excellence
Through comprehensive training and practical exposure, the programme strengthens awareness of RCL FOODS’ baking brands. These brands are known for excellence and consistency, and the programme reinforces these standards by equipping learners with the right skills and knowledge.
3. Elevating Industry Standards
By training learners to a high standard, the Academy contributes to raising the quality of bakery products across the industry. It aims to improve in-store bakery practices, enhance product quality, meet customer expectations, and contribute to improved overall industry performance.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the learnership, applicants must meet the following entry criteria:
- Grade 12 qualification (Matric)
- Hospitality Studies and Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level (essential)
- Computer literacy (MS Office) will serve as an advantage
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Creativity, problem-solving ability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work in a structured environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to completing the full 12-month programme

Key Learnership Responsibilities
