Purpose of the Learnership

This learnership provides an opportunity for young, motivated individuals to obtain a nationally recognised Wealth Management NQF Level 5 qualification. The programme includes structured classroom learning and practical workplace exposure within the financial services environment. Successful candidates will be involved in administrative functions, customer support activities and coordination tasks within Discovery Connect.

The learnership is designed to equip learners with industry-related knowledge, technical competence and workplace skills required for entry into the financial services sector. At the end of the 12-month programme, participants will possess a strong foundation in client service, financial administration and business communication—competencies essential for future employment in insurance, banking or investment operations.


Key Responsibilities

Learners accepted into the programme will be responsible for supporting various business teams. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintaining accurate details, statistics and records of queries received and resolved.
  • Coordinating administrative requests and routing queries to the appropriate consultants, teams or departments.
  • Managing shared mailboxes and responding to queries within the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Conducting comprehensive query management, ensuring professional communication and timely resolution.
  • Logging IT requests for any required call retrievals.
  • Assisting with the retrieval and management of call recordings.
  • Identifying potential sales opportunities during customer interactions and routing them appropriately.
  • Supporting the smooth and efficient flow of administrative functions within the business unit.

Educational Requirements

To qualify for the learnership, applicants must meet the following minimum educational criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
  • Mathematics: Minimum Level 4 (50%)
  • English: Minimum Level 4 (50%)
  • Mathematical Literacy: Minimum Level 5 (60%)
  • Second language: Minimum Level 4 (50%)
  • An incomplete tertiary qualification in finance is considered an advantage

Specific Programme Requirements

Candidates must also meet the following conditions:

  • Must not be registered for any post-Matric studies.
  • Must not be employed in a full-time capacity.
  • Must not have completed any previous learnership programme.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Must be fully proficient in written and verbal English.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, particularly in MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Only South African citizens by birth will be considered.
