Job Overview

The Learner role is a developmental position that combines academic learning and practical work experience. During the programme, learners will complete a formal, accredited qualification while actively contributing to projects, research, administrative tasks, and operational work within their assigned business unit.

The goal is to help learners gain the knowledge, confidence, and experience required to transition successfully into the workforce.


Key Responsibilities

As an FNB FirstJob Learner, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Workplace Learning and Delivery
    • Perform daily tasks that support business objectives, including administration, project work, data analysis, and customer service.
    • Meet deadlines and quality standards while gaining practical work experience aligned with your qualification.
    • Participate in additional on-the-job and classroom-based training provided by FNB.
  2. Customer Experience and Service
    • Uphold FNB’s shared values and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles in all interactions.
    • Communicate with customers in a professional, respectful, and efficient manner.
    • Resolve customer issues and escalate unresolved queries to the appropriate channels.
    • Gather feedback from customers to help improve service delivery.
  3. Process and Operational Efficiency
    • Support the team by implementing improved processes that enhance efficiency.
    • Identify and escalate potential risks or cost drivers.
    • Maintain accurate activity reports and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the FNB FirstJob Learner Programme, applicants should:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Have a Grade 12 (Matric) qualification or equivalent.
  • Be willing to complete a registered qualification through the programme.
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy and proficiency in English (both verbal and written).
  • Have a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and commitment to professional development.
