Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced and customer-focused Cashier (Fixed-Term) to join the Watercrest store team. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy working with people, handling transactions accurately, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing customer purchases, handling payments, and ensuring a smooth shopping experience at the point of sale. Applicants must have Grade 12/Matric and at least 6 months of cashier or till operations experience. Basic computer literacy, strong numerical skills, and good communication abilities are essential for this role.
Key responsibilities include operating cash registers, processing refunds and exchanges, handling loyalty cards and promotions, balancing cash flow, and ensuring all transactions are completed accurately according to company procedures. The cashier will also assist customers with queries, maintain professionalism at all times, and support Dis-Chemβs customer service standards.
Candidates should be trustworthy, detail-oriented, and able to work well under pressure. The role requires excellent time management, attention to detail, emotional intelligence, and strong interpersonal skills. Applicants must also be willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Dis-Chem is looking for individuals who can maintain confidentiality when handling daily takings and who are alert to suspicious behaviour to reduce fraud and security risks. The company values honesty, accountability, teamwork, and excellent customer service.
To qualify, applicants must be South African citizens with clear criminal and credit records. Reliable transport or residence close to the Watercrest store will be advantageous. Knowledge of an additional language will also be beneficial.
