ROLE PURPOSE

Clicks is looking for a motivated Shop Assistant / Cashier to join their team at Ithala Centre in Howick. The purpose of this role is to deliver outstanding customer service while efficiently handling point-of-sale (POS) operations and maintaining store standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service Excellence

  • Provide friendly, professional, and helpful service at all times
  • Act as a brand ambassador by being visible and approachable
  • Promote current promotions and ensure customers are informed

Point of Sale (POS) Operations

  • Accurately scan merchandise and process payments
  • Handle cash safely and responsibly at all times
  • Ensure all transactions are completed efficiently

ClubCard Promotion

  • Promote the Clicks ClubCard programme
  • Encourage customers to sign up and participate
  • Assist customers with rewards and benefits

Merchandising & Housekeeping

  • Maintain store presentation according to visual merchandising standards
  • Ensure shelves are stocked, neat, and organised
  • Perform general housekeeping duties

Product Knowledge

  • Stay updated on products, promotions, and store events
  • Provide accurate information and recommendations to customers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) โ€“ Essential
  • Maths 50% and English 50% (advantageous)

Experience:

  • Experience in a retail or customer-facing environment (preferred but not required)

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Basic mathematics and numeracy skills
  • Understanding of retail and FMCG environments
  • Knowledge of stock management processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Good planning and organising ability
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
