Overview

• BTT is seeking a qualified Operator Level 4 to join the Durban Operations Team
• Role focuses on safe and efficient bulk storage operations
• Requires working on a shift basis in a high-risk industrial/chemical environment
• Emphasis on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency
Minimum Requirements
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Proficiency in English (Mathematics and Science preferred)
• Completion of Operator Level 4 competency modules
• At least 1 year of experience in chemical plant operations
• Code 08 driver’s licence (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Safety & Compliance:
• Always adhere to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements
• Follow all SHEQ policies and work instructions
• Comply with:
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act
- ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards
• Maintain safe working conditions at all times
Operational Duties:
• Perform loading and discharge of bulk products
• Assist with receiving and dispatching:
- Ships
- Road tankers
- Rail tankers
- Drums
• Prepare tanks, pipelines, and equipment for operations
• Carry, connect, and manage hoses during operations
• Insert and remove pipeline pigs (cleaning devices)
Storage & Handling:
• Assist in filling, cleaning, and preparing drums
• Connect hoses for loading/offloading under supervision
• Load and decant vehicles once connections are verified
• Conduct daily tank measurements (dips) with supervision
Maintenance & Housekeeping:
• Clean tanks, separators, pipelines, and bund areas
• Maintain cleanliness of workspaces and operational sites
• Perform general duties such as:
- Sweeping
- Painting
- Grass cutting
- Washing floors
• Ensure equipment and facilities are in good condition
Equipment Operation:
• Operate forklift for stacking and storage (if licensed)
• Support general plant operations as required
Team & Flexibility:
• Work across different sites as instructed
• Assist team members and supervisors when needed
• Perform any lawful duties in the interest of the company
