Job Overview
The Department of Health invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for Cleaner positions at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent qualification
- No prior working experience required
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform routine cleaning duties
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Willingness to work under pressure
Added Advantage
- 12 months or more cleaning experience
Knowledge and Skills
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and hygiene standards
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
- Good human relations and stakeholder interaction skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The appointed candidates will be responsible for:
- Cleaning floors, walls, windows, doors, steps, beds, and lockers
- Performing indoor and outdoor cleaning duties
- Operating cleaning equipment such as polishing machines
- Using cleaning chemicals correctly and safely
- Maintaining cleanliness in assigned hospital areas
- Assisting supervisors with additional cleaning tasks when required
Important Conditions
- Shift work, including weekends and public holidays, is compulsory
- Staff rotation may be implemented
- Employees must wear protective clothing as required by law
- Candidates must be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks
