Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 qualification
- Completion of Correctional Science Learnership / Basic Training / ITC
- CB1-1: No prior experience required
- Competencies:
- Computer literacy
- Firearm competency
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills
- Knowledge of correctional legislation, policies, and procedures
- Understanding of Minimum-Security Standards for correctional centres
Key Responsibilities:
Security Officers ensure the safe, secure, and humane management of offenders within correctional facilities. Duties include:
- Controlling access to the centre and restricted areas
- Managing internal and external movement of inmates
- Guarding offenders at correctional facilities and external locations
- Conducting physical security inspections and checks
- Managing security stores and equipment
- Overseeing the operations of the security control room
- Supporting offender rehabilitation through safe, humane correctional practices
Security Officers are essential to maintaining order, protecting staff, inmates, and visitors, and supporting the Department’s rehabilitation objectives.

Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 qualification
- Completion of Correctional Science Learnership / Basic Training / ITC
Key Responsibilities:
Case Officers manage offender documentation and ensure compliance with Correctional Management Committee (CMC) recommendations. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and updating sentence plans based on CMC decisions
- Completing G331, G356, and G326 forms accurately
- Maintaining offender profile registers and documentation
- Referring decisions and recommendations to appropriate offices
- Safeguarding classified documents and confidential correspondence
- Monitoring offender movement and ensuring controlled environments
- Conducting searches to maintain security and prevent misuse of equipment
- Ensuring all offender information, minimum detention periods, and release dates are accurate
Case Officers ensure that administrative and legal processes are followed, supporting the operational integrity and security of the correctional centre.
