About the Learnership

The Truworths Stores Learnership offers a comprehensive learning experience that equips participants with the skills needed to operate effectively both on the sales floor and at the service desk. Throughout the learnership, you will receive hands-on training in various aspects of retail, including assisting customers, managing stock, processing transactions, and maintaining the overall look and feel of the store. This program is designed to help you become a competent, cross-trained sales consultant capable of delivering excellent service and contributing positively to the store’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a participant in the learnership, you will be expected to take on a variety of responsibilities that mirror real-world retail operations. These include:

  • Completing a minimum of 120 hours of learnership activities to gain practical experience.
  • Learning and applying knowledge through structured training and hands-on experience.
  • Preparing for assessments and demonstrating competence in all areas of retail operations.
  • Assisting customers in finding merchandise and offering personalized service.
  • Merchandising the store according to Truworths’ Merchandise Buying Principles (MBP), ensuring products are displayed attractively and effectively.
  • Processing payments and purchases using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Opening new customer accounts and maintaining accurate customer records.
  • Monitoring and controlling stock levels to minimize losses and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, ensuring a positive shopping experience that encourages loyalty.
  • Maintaining customer security and safety, ensuring the store environment is welcoming and secure.

Requirements

To be eligible for this learnership, you should meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of Grade 10 education.
  • A genuine passion for fashion and retail.
  • Willingness to learn, complete logbooks, and prepare for assessments.
  • Commitment to personal growth and professional development within the retail industry.
  • Must be a person living with a disability.
