Role Overview
The General Worker supports core warehouse functions, including receiving, binning, picking, stock replenishment, scanner administration, and maintaining high housekeeping standards. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure while following company procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Binning and Receiving
- Ensure incoming merchandise is correctly binned in designated warehouse areas following company policies.
- Allocate new products to accurate bin location numbers and ensure changes are logged and communicated to supervisors.
- Assist with replenishment tasks when stock needs to be moved from bulk storage to picking locations.
- Receive and inspect incoming goods for accuracy, quality, and compliance with company standards.
2. Order Picking
- Pick both branch and customer orders timeously to ensure all daily cut-off times are met.
- Only pick from bulk locations when pick stock is unavailable, or when fulfilling bulk orders, to avoid damaging pack sizes.
- Follow all operational procedures to support accuracy and improve customer satisfaction.
- Implement double-checks on orders before dispatch to minimise stock loss and ensure fulfilment accuracy.
- Assist with regular stock-taking activities, including counting and verifying stock levels.
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Consistently work towards meeting daily operational targets and performance expectations.
3. Scanner Management
- Issue scanners to warehouse operators at the start of each shift and record allocations in the electronic application.
- Receive scanners at the end of shifts, inspect them for any damage, and check them back into the system.
- Report scanner damage or faults to the supervisor immediately.
- Update and maintain the daily scanner issue spreadsheet accurately.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (essential)
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use electronic warehouse systems
- Strong integrity and honesty
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or automotive environment is advantageous but not required. Training will be provided for dedicated and hard-working candidates.
