Programme Overview

The Graduate Trainee – Cleaning Operations programme prepares candidates for roles within operational management. Trainees are introduced to the cleaning services industry and taught how to manage staff, interact with clients, oversee service levels, and support contract management activities.

Working across client sites in Cape Town, trainees are exposed to various operational environments, allowing them to develop adaptability, resilience, and strong decision-making skills. The programme aims to create confident future leaders who understand both the technical and interpersonal demands of the job.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

During the programme, trainees will take part in responsibilities that help them build foundational operational skills:

1. Assisting With Management of Cleaning Operations

Trainees will help ensure that cleaning services run smoothly and that all tasks are completed in accordance with client expectations and contractual commitments.

2. Supporting Supervisors With Scheduling and Task Allocation

This includes preparing rosters, assigning duties, and monitoring staff performance across different shifts and locations.

3. Participating in Health & Safety and Quality Audits

Trainees will help identify compliance issues, complete audit documentation, and support the implementation of corrective actions.

4. Learning Tsebo Systems and Reporting Tools

Exposure to operational systems will help trainees understand how performance reporting, SLA monitoring, and workflow tracking support service delivery.

5. Assisting With Budgeting and Financial Controls

The role includes learning how costs are managed, how budgets are created, and how financial reports are prepared and interpreted.

6. Engaging in Client Interaction

Trainees will attend client meetings, help resolve queries, and learn the fundamentals of building strong client relationships.

7. Supporting Special Projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • OR another related field

Having prior exposure through part-time work or internships in cleaning, hospitality, facilities management, or operations will be beneficial but is not a strict requirement.
