Job Overview:

As a Table Sorter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of products that leave our production line meet the highest standards. This role involves sorting and recording quality defects (Table Sorter) and completing necessary QC documentation. You will be expected to adhere to safety protocols, wear required PPE, and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Your main responsibility will be to maintain an efficient production line, identify defects, and escalate issues to ensure smooth operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control & Sorting:
    • Sort and inspect products to detect defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
    • Correctly record can codes and label specifications on the QC check sheet in a timely manner.
    • Ensure defective products are removed immediately from the production line to prevent rework accumulation.
    • Ensure that your work area is kept clean and adheres to GMP standards.
  • Efficiency & Compliance:
    • Achieve shift goals and follow the daily production plan.
    • Accurately record waste and can codes, ensuring that all entries are correct and completed on time.
    • Raise SROs (Safety Review Observations) when required and comply with all safety protocols.
    • Handle the product according to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) standards to ensure food safety and quality.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Assist in cleaning the station before and after maintenance activities to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
    • Give a detailed handover to the incoming shift, ensuring continuity and clarity of tasks.
    • Immediately escalate any deviations or product non-conformance to your line manager for quick resolution.
  • Safety and Equipment:
    • Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
    • Follow Tiger Brands safety policies and ensure compliance with company protocols.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, or Matric with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or a 3-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6).
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry is preferred. This could include previous roles in production, quality control, or manufacturing.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and an understanding of quality control standards.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
    • Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues clearly.
    • Familiarity with HACCP standards and GMP.
