Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Support & Targets

The General Assistant plays a direct role in helping the store achieve its sales targets. This involves ensuring that merchandise is presented attractively, promotional displays are set up correctly, and stock is replenished as needed. By maintaining an organised and appealing store environment, the General Assistant supports customer engagement and helps drive sales performance.

2. Protection of Assets

A core responsibility of this role is safeguarding store assets, including stock, cash, equipment, customers, and staff. This involves following store security procedures, reporting irregularities promptly, and maintaining awareness of activity on the sales floor and in stock areas. The General Assistant must ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with company policies to minimise loss and maintain a safe store environment.

3. Merchandise Presentation & Replenishment

The General Assistant ensures that merchandise is always well-organised, clearly priced, and fully replenished. This includes unpacking stock, placing items in the correct locations, maintaining clean shelves and displays, and ensuring that store layout guidelines are followed. Housekeeping duties—such as keeping the store tidy, cleaning display areas, and organising stockrooms—are essential to maintaining a professional shopping environment.

4. Customer Service

Providing excellent customer service is at the heart of this role. The General Assistant is expected to greet customers, answer product-related questions, guide shoppers to merchandise, and ensure that each interaction contributes to a positive store experience.
