As a Security Officer, you will report directly to the Security Manager and play a key role in maintaining secure environments across various sectors, including residential estates, retail centres, corporate offices, educational institutions, logistics facilities, mining operations, and financial services environments.

Key Responsibilities
Protection and Safety Operations
- Safeguard employees, visitors, contractors, buildings, vehicles, and company assets.
- Ensure the safety and security of all personnel within the assigned site.
- Maintain vigilance to prevent unauthorized activities and security breaches.
Access Control and Visitor Management
- Monitor and control all entry and exit points.
- Verify visitor information and authorize access according to site procedures.
- Maintain accurate visitor and access records.
- Direct vehicle movement and traffic flow where required.
Patrols and Surveillance
- Conduct regular patrols of buildings, facilities, and perimeter areas.
- Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment.
- Identify and report suspicious activities or security risks.
Incident Response and Reporting
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents.
- Investigate security-related incidents and report findings.
- Use communication systems and emergency procedures when assistance is required.
- Complete detailed incident, occurrence, and observation reports.
Policy Compliance
- Enforce site security procedures and company policies.
- Support emergency preparedness initiatives, including fire prevention and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable security regulations and standards.
Equipment Management
- Conduct routine inspections of security equipment.
- Report equipment defects and operational issues immediately.
- Ensure all security tools and resources remain operational and serviceable.
Customer Service
- Provide professional assistance to clients, visitors, and employees.
- Maintain a positive and professional image of the company at all times.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all stakeholders.
Risk Identification
- Identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Recommend preventative measures where appropriate.
- Maintain awareness of security risks within the assigned environment.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Valid PSIRA Certificate (Minimum Grade C).
- Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
- Previous security industry experience.
- Knowledge of access control systems.
- Understanding of CCTV and alarm monitoring systems.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to handle conflict professionally and calmly.
- Physically fit and capable of performing patrol duties.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
Advantageous Requirements

- Valid driver’s licence.
- Firearm competency for business purposes.
- Additional security-related certifications or training.
