Senwes Equipment is inviting applications from motivated and hands-on individuals who are passionate about mechanics, machinery, and the agricultural industry to join its Technician Apprenticeship Programme.
This structured 3-year apprenticeship programme combines practical workplace experience with technical training, providing successful candidates with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to become qualified technicians within the Agricultural, Construction, and Forestry industries.
About the Apprenticeship
The programme is designed to equip apprentices with valuable technical expertise through workplace learning and formal training. Successful candidates will gain exposure to various aspects of agricultural equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and repair while working alongside experienced technicians.
Throughout the apprenticeship, participants will receive practical training and technical development to prepare them for future careers within the agricultural machinery sector.
Key Responsibilities
Successful apprentices will:
- Assist with servicing, maintenance, and repair of agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
- Participate in diagnostics, fault-finding, and troubleshooting processes.
- Gain exposure to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Support qualified technicians with workshop operations.
- Assist with stock control and parts management.
- Perform workshop housekeeping and administrative duties.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and standards.
- Provide professional customer service and technical support.
- Participate in product-specific technical training programmes.
Training and Development
As part of the apprenticeship programme, candidates may be required to:
- Attend practical and theoretical training sessions.
- Complete distance-learning modules where applicable.
- Participate in supplier and manufacturer training programmes.
- Attend internal technical development initiatives.
- Complete trade-related assessments and practical evaluations.
Apprenticeship Expectations
Apprentices selected for the programme will be expected to:
- Maintain satisfactory academic and workplace performance.
- Successfully complete all prescribed training phases.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and commitment to learning.
- Participate actively in all training and development activities.
Please note that unsuccessful training modules or assessments may need to be repeated at the apprentice’s own cost and time.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) completed or currently in progress.
- Mathematics, Technical Mathematics, N2 Mathematics, or Engineering Mathematics.
- Mathematical Literacy will not be considered.
- Valid driver’s licence or currently working towards obtaining one.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Good communication skills.
- Genuine interest in mechanics, machinery, and agriculture.
