Objective Personnel is currently looking for a reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented Packer to join our warehouse operations team in Cape Town. This role is ideal for candidates with warehouse experience who are organized, efficient, and committed to maintaining accuracy and stock integrity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the proper allocation, packing, and handling of stock in a fast-paced warehouse environment while adhering to company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Packer, your primary duties will focus on the accurate and timely handling of stock, maintaining inventory integrity, supporting warehouse operations, and contributing to overall productivity. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Stock Put Away & Bin Allocations
- Receive stock from the Receiving Department once Goods Received Vouchers (GRV) have been completed.
- Verify item codes, quantities, and descriptions against the accompanying documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Allocate and pack stock into the correct bin locations, ensuring that bin labels correspond with system allocations.
- Apply First In, First Out (FIFO) principles to ensure proper stock rotation and reduce the risk of expired or obsolete stock.
- Identify and separate damaged, short-supplied, or incorrect stock and report to the relevant department.
Inventory Accuracy & Stock Integrity
- Maintain accurate binning and storage of all warehouse stock at all times.
- Assist with regular cycle counts and full stock takes to ensure consistency between physical stock and system records.
- Identify discrepancies or stock variances and report them promptly to the warehouse supervisor.
- Ensure all stock is stored safely and securely to prevent damage and potential loss.
Productivity & Turnaround Time
- Pack and allocate all receipted stock within required timeframes to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
- Maintain workflow efficiency without compromising accuracy or safety.
- Support warehouse efficiency through proactive organization and prioritization of tasks.
Housekeeping & Safety Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace, including shelving, aisles, and packing areas.
- Ensure that stock is stacked safely to prevent accidents or damage.
- Comply with company health and safety policies, including the correct handling of heavy or hazardous stock.
Team Support & General Warehouse Duties
- Provide support for picking and dispatch activities during peak periods or as needed.
- Assist the receiving team during busy periods to ensure smooth stock processing.
- Actively participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions to improve warehouse performance.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- Experience: 1–2 years’ experience in a warehouse or industrial environment; experience with industrial supplies is advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Experience in stock packing, bin allocation, and inventory management is a plus.
- Knowledge: Understanding of FIFO principles and ability to read and interpret product codes accurately.
- Numerical Competency: Ability to handle basic calculations and maintain accurate records.
- Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail, reliability, organizational skills, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
