Role Overview
Voltex is seeking a qualified Driver Code 14 to join the East London branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery and collection of materials to clients while maintaining vehicle integrity, adhering to regulations, and ensuring excellent customer service.
This is a hands-on role that requires vigilance, reliability, and the ability to operate heavy vehicles, including those carrying hazardous materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure roadworthiness before trips.
- Report any defects, incidents, or accidents immediately to the Branch Manager.
- Ensure compliance with weight, height, and transportation regulations for bridges, tunnels, and materials.
- Plan and navigate the most efficient routes to delivery destinations.
- Load stock according to the delivery log sheet and verify against the delivery note.
- Submit accurate delivery documentation and reports for each completed journey.
- Obtain client and customer signatures to confirm receipt of goods.
- Communicate effectively with clients to resolve complaints or delivery issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of the vehicle.
- Keep records of vehicle service schedules and notify management when maintenance is due.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate is essential.
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence with PDP/CD licence.
- Hazchem Certificate is mandatory.
- Valid passport is an advantage.
- Proven work experience as a truck driver, preferably with hazardous or dangerous goods.
- Familiarity with GPS, AVL devices, and vehicle tracking technology.
- Knowledge of warehouse processes, safety standards, and use of protective clothing.
- Ability to handle diverse logistical tasks and maintain accurate delivery records.
