The Eastern Cape Department of Transport invites qualified and physically fit individuals to apply for several Road Worker and General Worker positions across different maintenance units and traffic stations in the province.

🚧 ROAD WORKER: TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE (06 POSTS)
Salary:

R163,680 – R192,810 per annum (Level 3)

Work Locations:
  • Alfred Nzo District – 3 Posts
  • Amathole District – 3 Posts

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will assist with essential road and infrastructure maintenance, including:

  • Bush clearing and vegetation control
  • Installation and cleaning of culverts
  • Road marking and signage installation
  • Guard rails and kilometre marker placement
  • Gravel and surface road maintenance
  • Loading and off-loading of materials
  • Concrete work and steel fixing
  • Trench digging and drainage cleaning
  • Machinery washing and tool cleaning
  • Pothole patching and erosion control
  • Gabion and fence installation

Minimum Requirements
  • ABET Level 2
  • Valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence
  • No experience required (exposure to similar work is an advantage)
  • Physically fit and in good health
  • Willing to work overtime and after hours
  • Ability to read and write
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong self-management ability

🧹 GENERAL WORKER: MAINTENANCE

(Ref: DOT 62/02/2026)

Salary:

R138,486 – R163,131 per annum (Level 2)

Location:
  • Amathole District
Requirements:
  • ABET Level 2 or Grade 8
  • No experience required (environment exposure is an advantage)
  • Physically fit and healthy
  • Willing to work after hours when required

📦 GENERAL WORKER (ASSISTANT): LOGISTICS & DISPOSAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES

(03 POSTS – Ref: DOT 63/02/2026)

Salary:

R138,486 – R163,131 per annum (Level 2)

Location:
  • Amathole District
Duties Include:
  • Loading and off-loading furniture and goods
  • Cleaning government vehicles
  • Maintaining clean workstations
  • Supporting logistics operations
Requirements:
  • ABET Level 2 or Grade 8
  • Basic knowledge of workplace procedures
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physically fit and reliable

🚓 GENERAL WORKER: TRAFFIC STATION

(03 POSTS – Ref: DOT 64/02/2026)

Salary:

R138,486 – R163,131 per annum (Level 2)

Location:
  • Bizana Traffic Station (Alfred Nzo District)
Responsibilities:
  • General cleaning duties
  • Loading and off-loading of furniture and materials
  • Cleaning government vehicles
  • Maintaining work areas
Requirements:
  • ABET Level 2 or Grade 8
  • Physically fit and healthy
  • Willing to work after hours
  • Basic work procedure knowledge
  • Good communication skills
