Position Overview: Picker Packer

Starke Ayres is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Picker Packer to join its warehouse operations in Kempton Park. This role is essential to ensuring that customer orders are accurately picked, prepared, and dispatched in line with strict quality and stock control standards.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining product quality, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction by ensuring that all seed products are correctly handled, packaged, and recorded.

Key Responsibilities

As a Picker Packer, your duties will include:

  • Picking products accurately according to customer orders
  • Assembling and preparing orders for transfer to the checking and dispatch area
  • Verifying correct seed reference numbers during picking and reporting any discrepancies to the Stock Controller
  • Notifying management of out-of-stock items and awaiting further instructions
  • Ensuring all products are clean, properly packaged, correctly labelled, and in saleable condition
  • Maintaining high quality standards in appearance, packaging, and presentation
  • Assisting colleagues once assigned duties are completed
  • Keeping all work areas neat, organised, and clean at all times
  • Supporting security procedures to protect stock, assets, and warehouse facilities
  • Assisting with invoicing of customer orders when required
  • Helping walk-in customers with product information and basic queries
  • Participating in bi-annual and ad hoc stock counts as directed by the Stock Controller

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a General Worker or in a warehouse environment – essential
  • Warehousing Diploma or Certificate – advantageous but not mandatory
  • Ability to read and understand product codes and order documentation
  • Strong organisational skills and accuracy
  • Physically fit and capable of handling manual warehouse duties
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
