This learnership is part of the Supply Chain function and is designed to equip participants with practical experience that supports long-term career growth. Throughout the programme, learners receive training on operating automated packaging equipment, upholding product quality standards, and maintaining compliance with workplace safety and hygiene requirements. The role provides a strong foundation for individuals who want to develop their abilities in mechanical operations, problem-solving, teamwork, and line coordination.

Key Responsibilities

As a learner in the Automated Packaging programme, your daily activities will include:

Production Line Operations
  • Assisting with general line operations according to the daily production plan.
  • Preparing the working area and equipment for production through routine checks and cleaning tasks.
  • Performing pre-start-up inspections to confirm that machinery and work areas meet all safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
Quality Monitoring
  • Monitoring product and packaging quality throughout the production process.
  • Identifying irregularities or deviations from quality standards and reporting them promptly.
  • Taking corrective action when process abnormalities occur, helping prevent issues from escalating.
Equipment Care
  • Cleaning machinery based on manufacturer guidelines and site procedures.
  • Supporting routine equipment checks to ensure machinery functions effectively during production cycles.
Material Handling
  • Preparing and verifying raw materials required for production.
  • Ensuring that all materials meet the specifications needed for efficient and accurate packaging.
Safety and Compliance
  • Following all health, safety, and environmental regulations in the production area.
  • Maintaining personal safety awareness and contributing to the safety of the entire production team.
  • Supporting eco-efficient practices and contributing to a sustainable workplace environment.
Learnership Requirements
  • Completing all assessments, assignments, and logbook entries as part of the structured learning programme.
  • Participating actively in training sessions and development activities.
Minimum Qualifications

To apply, you must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • A National Senior Certificate (Matric) with passes in Mathematics and Physical Science, OR
  • An N2, N3, or N4 Engineering qualification

These requirements help ensure participants have the foundational numeracy, comprehension, and technical ability needed to succeed in a manufacturing and engineering-focused environment.
