Purpose of the Role
The Data Capturer will play a critical role in supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist by capturing, verifying, and consolidating data from health facilities and partner organisations. This role ensures that all data is accurately recorded and submitted on time for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. Accurate data is essential for monitoring programme performance, making informed decisions, and identifying areas for improvement. The Data Capturer will also maintain organised records, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and ensure compliance with data quality standards.
This position requires attention to detail, organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining data integrity. The successful candidate will interact with internal project teams, Department of Health staff, and facility personnel to collect and validate programme information. By supporting timely and accurate reporting, the Data Capturer contributes directly to the effectiveness and impact of THC’s public health initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture, consolidate, and verify facility and partner data
- Ensure timely submission of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
- Update databases with accurate information and ensure proper data formatting
- Maintain a register of individuals responsible for data submissions at each facility
- Monitor and follow up on late or missing submissions, notifying the M&E Specialist as required
- Collaborate with Department of Health staff and internal project teams to ensure accurate data collection
- Support filing, administrative duties, and general record-keeping
- Assist with data analysis or preparation of reports when required
The Data Capturer will also ensure that all processes comply with organisational standards and relevant health regulations. This role requires active communication and collaboration with various stakeholders to guarantee that reporting objectives are met and that project activities run smoothly.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification; tertiary education advantageous
- Training or experience in TIER.Net data capturing and reporting
- Minimum of two years’ experience with Department of Health data and M&E systems (patient-level to DHIS reporting)
- Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS programmes and health data management
- Experience in data collection and data capturing; public health experience advantageous
- Familiarity with the South African public health sector and District Health System
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and isiXhosa
- Clear criminal record
