🧾 Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Court Interpreter position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Three (3) months of relevant practical experience (preferred but not mandatory).
  • A valid driver’s license will serve as an added advantage.
  • Language proficiency will be tested, with preference given to languages commonly spoken in the Galeshewe and Kimberley areas.

    • Provide clear and accurate interpretation in Criminal, Civil, and Labour Court sessions.
    • Assist in quasi-judicial proceedings where necessary.
  2. Translation of Legal Documents
    • Translate charge sheets, witness statements, and exhibits from English into local languages and vice versa.
    • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality in all translations.
  3. Record Management
    • Record court cases in the criminal record book.
    • Prepare and maintain case files and transcripts as requested by Magistrates and Prosecutors.
    • Capture and manage statistical data related to cases and interpretations.
  4. Administrative Support
    • Perform additional administrative duties within the court as assigned by the supervisor.
