Main Purpose of the Role
The Sales Assistant will provide exceptional customer service while supporting the store’s sales objectives. The successful candidate will assist customers, promote products, process transactions accurately, maintain attractive merchandise displays, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the store.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
As a Sales Assistant, you will:
- Welcome customers as they enter the store.
- Assist customers in locating products.
- Provide accurate product information and recommendations.
- Deliver friendly and professional customer service.
- Build positive relationships with customers.
- Create an enjoyable shopping experience.
Sales
You will also be responsible for:
- Achieving individual and store sales targets.
- Promoting additional products through upselling and cross-selling.
- Increasing Units Per Transaction (UPT), Average Transaction Value (ATV), conversion rates, and overall store turnover.
- Promoting available payment solutions, including:
- PAYFLEX
- Pay Just Now (PJN)
- Happy Pay
Brand Representation
Successful candidates will:
- Represent the GALXBOY brand professionally.
- Follow company grooming standards.
- Wear the required company uniform.
- Maintain a professional appearance on the sales floor at all times.
Visual Merchandising
Duties include:
- Maintaining product displays.
- Replenishing stock on the sales floor.
- Folding, steaming, tagging, pricing, and hanging garments.
- Following visual merchandising guidelines.
- Keeping merchandise organised and attractive.
- Understanding product features, materials, pricing, and care instructions.
Stock Control
Responsibilities include:
- Keeping the stockroom neat and organised.
- Ensuring stock is stored correctly.
- Monitoring stock availability.
- Reporting low stock, best-selling items, and sell-outs to management.
- Assisting with stock replenishment.
Daily Operations
The successful applicant will also:
- Process customer purchases using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash and electronic payments accurately.
- Balance cash where required.
- Follow attendance procedures and work schedules.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the store.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Basic computer literacy.
- Higher education qualification will be an advantage.
- One to two years of retail experience preferred.
- Knowledge of retail operations and customer service practices.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
