Job Overview
Clicks Group is looking for Shop Assistant Cashiers / Festive Casuals to join its retail operations in Gauteng on a fixed-term contract. This opportunity is suited to individuals who enjoy working with customers, have good communication skills and can provide efficient service in a busy retail environment.
The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while handling point-of-sale (POS) activities, processing customer payments, promoting Clicks ClubCard rewards and assisting with merchandising and general store housekeeping. Employees will also be expected to stay informed about products, promotions, ranges and special events so they can provide customers with accurate and helpful information.
As a customer-facing position, the successful candidate should be friendly, professional and comfortable interacting with different customers. Accuracy, numeracy, reliability and the ability to follow established procedures are important, particularly when handling cash and processing transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all operational activities at the point of sale accurately and efficiently.
- Scan merchandise correctly and process customer payments.
- Handle cash safely and responsibly at all times.
- Action Clicks ClubCard rewards during customer transactions.
- Promote the Clicks ClubCard and assist with enrolling new members.
- Work towards ClubCard participation targets.
- Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
- Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
- Act as a positive Clicks brand ambassador within the store.
- Maintain visibility and assist customers with their needs.
- Complete merchandising activities according to store and visual merchandising standards.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and appealing store environment.
- Follow stock management and retail operating procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, ranges, promotions and events.
- Provide customers with correct product and promotional information.
- Follow company values and contribute towards Clicks’ customer-focused service standards.
- Follow instructions, procedures and operational requirements consistently.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Grade 12 is essential.
Experience:
- Previous customer-facing experience in a retail or FMCG store environment is desirable but not stated as essential.
Candidates should have an interest in retail and customer service and be willing to work in a fast-paced store environment.
Skills and Competencies
The position requires good numeracy and basic mathematics skills for processing transactions and handling payments. Candidates should also be computer literate and able to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues.
