TsAfrika Catering Solutions, part of Tsebo Solutions Group, is looking for a Food Service Assistant to join one of its sites in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a food-service environment and is comfortable assisting with food preparation, serving customers, cleaning and general catering support.
The Food Service Assistant will perform a variety of duties connected to food production, front-of-house service and general site support. The successful candidate will help ensure that meals and beverages are prepared and served efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, food safety and customer service.
This is a practical, hands-on position where teamwork and the ability to follow instructions are important. The role may involve working in kitchens, dining areas and serving areas, as well as assisting with catering equipment, deliveries and stock-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
The Food Service Assistant will be responsible for:
- Assisting with basic food preparation and meal serving.
- Preparing dining and service areas before meal periods.
- Serving food and beverages in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ensuring food is presented attractively and according to company standards.
- Keeping kitchens, serving areas, dining rooms and equipment clean.
- Washing dishes, utensils and catering equipment when required.

- Supporting stock rotation and waste-minimisation practices.
- Providing friendly and professional customer service.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in catering, hospitality, food service or a similar environment will be advantageous.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety principles.
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to perform practical food-service, cleaning and general support duties.
Previous catering or hospitality experience is beneficial, but the role also requires a strong willingness to learn, follow procedures and work effectively as part of a team.
