Job Overview
TsAfrika Catering Solutions, part of the Tsebo Solutions Group, is looking for an energetic and customer-focused Cashier to join its team in Umhlanga, Durban.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate, efficient and friendly cashier services while handling point-of-sale transactions, maintaining cash control and ensuring customers receive a positive experience. This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable handling money and can remain accurate and professional during busy periods.
TsAfrika operates within the broader Tsebo Solutions Group, an African integrated workplace management solutions provider offering services across catering, facilities management, cleaning and hygiene, protection, energy, procurement, workspace design, engineering and other workplace solutions.
Key Responsibilities
The Cashier will be responsible for:
- Operating the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
- Processing cash, card and voucher transactions according to company procedures.
- Balancing the cash float at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Issuing receipts and ensuring that customers are charged the correct prices.
- Providing courteous, friendly and professional customer service.
- Greeting customers and assisting them throughout the purchasing process.
- Handling customer queries and escalating issues to the appropriate person when necessary.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly and hygienic cashier area.
- Following required food safety, health and safety standards.
- Adhering to all TsAfrika and Tsebo policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Supporting the catering team during busy or peak periods.
- Assisting with light stocking and merchandising when required.
- Helping maintain a positive and efficient environment for both customers and colleagues.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- National Senior Certificate / Matric.
- 2–3 years of working experience.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Previous cashier or customer-service experience is advantageous.
- Experience in a catering or hospitality environment will be an advantage.
- The ability to accurately handle cash and process transactions.
- Familiarity with POS systems will be beneficial.
The role requires someone who can work accurately while dealing with customers in a busy environment.
