Job Overview
DHL Supply Chain is offering an opportunity for a Driver: Forklift at its Plumbago Multi-User facility in Kempton Park, Gauteng. This is a full-time, permanent position within DHL Supply Chain’s operations.
The Forklift Driver will play an important role in supporting warehouse and material-handling activities by operating forklift equipment safely and efficiently. The position requires someone who understands warehouse operations, follows standard operating procedures and can maintain a high level of care when handling customer stock and company equipment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for daily forklift inspections, safe operation of material-handling equipment, stock handling, housekeeping and reporting any equipment defects or merchandise damage. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to workplace safety are essential.
This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates with Matric, a valid forklift driver’s licence and approximately three years of warehouse experience.
Key Responsibilities
The Forklift Driver will be responsible for:
- Conducting daily forklift inspections before starting work.
- Completing the required daily forklift and MHE checklists.
- Checking important forklift controls and components, including brakes, hydraulic oil and tyres.
- Ensuring forklifts and other company equipment are used correctly and safely.
- Reporting equipment defects, faults or safety concerns promptly.
- Operating forklifts according to approved procedures and safe working practices.
- Handling, offloading, storing and stacking stock carefully to prevent damage.
- Ensuring customer merchandise is protected during all material-handling activities.
- Reporting and recording any non-conformity or damage relating to customer merchandise.
- Working within the designated operating areas according to management instructions and business requirements.
- Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping throughout the work area.
- Keeping the forklift clean and maintaining a high level of equipment hygiene.
- Taking proper care of company equipment, including scanners and other material-handling tools.
- Following all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Supporting the business in maintaining safe, efficient and reliable warehouse operations.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by following established processes and identifying operational concerns where appropriate.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Matric / Grade 12 – Essential.
- Valid Forklift Driver Licence.
- Approximately 3 years of warehouse experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Warehouse experience is important because the role involves working within a busy logistics environment and handling customer merchandise using material-handling equipment.
The successful candidate should also demonstrate good attention to detail and a strong understanding of workplace safety. Because the position involves operating heavy equipment around stock, employees must be able to follow instructions carefully and consistently.
