📋 JOB SUMMARY
The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 20 Cleaner positions at Weskoppies Hospital.

Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining clean, hygienic and safe environments across hospital wards, departments and designated external areas. The role requires individuals who are reliable, physically fit, hardworking and able to follow cleaning and infection-control procedures.
🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have:
- Minimum ABET Level 4, Grade 10 or Grade 12 certificate.
- Ability to read and write.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous cleaning duties.
- Willingness to rotate between wards and departments.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Honest, reliable and responsible work ethic.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control will be an added advantage.
🧹 KEY DUTIES
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, windows, doors and furniture.
- Cleaning lockers, beds, curtains, blinds and other designated surfaces.
- Maintaining corridors, entrances and external areas.
- Removing litter and waste appropriately.
- Disposing of waste according to hospital waste-management procedures.
- Cleaning staff and patient kitchen areas.
- Cleaning refrigerators, microwave ovens and other designated equipment.
- Washing dishes, cups and utensils.
- Safely using, storing and maintaining cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Cleaning spills immediately to prevent accidents.
- Replenishing soap, toilet paper, deodoriser blocks and air fresheners.
- Completing daily cleanliness checklists and required registers.
- Reporting maintenance defects, hazards and shortages to supervisors.
- Maintaining a hygienic and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Performing other reasonable duties delegated by the supervisor.
