Job Overview
adidas is looking for a Retail Sales Associate to join its Retail team at Mall of Africa in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This is a full-time opportunity for an energetic, customer-focused retail professional who can deliver excellent service while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the store.
The Retail Sales Associate will assist management with store maintenance, customer service, sales transactions, stock movement, merchandising and general store operations. The successful candidate will be expected to understand customer needs, recommend suitable products and use effective selling techniques to help achieve both individual and store sales targets.
This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates with Matric and 2–4 years of retail experience who enjoy working in a busy, customer-facing environment and have a strong interest in sales, products and the adidas brand.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing every customer with a high level of adidas service.
- Greeting customers and assisting them in finding the right products for their needs.
- Using selling techniques such as add-on sales to increase sales opportunities.
- Explaining product features and technical information to customers.
- Working towards individual and store sales goals.
- Completing regular sales transactions involving cash, credit and other approved payment methods.
- Developing strong relationships with customers through professional and helpful service.
- Supporting product ticketing and checking paperwork against items received.
- Assisting with the movement of products from the stockroom to the sales floor when required.
- Helping maintain accurate and organised product flow throughout the store.
- Ensuring company assets and stock are properly secured to help prevent shrinkage.
- Assisting with merchandise displays according to store management guidelines and schedules.
- Maintaining general housekeeping standards throughout the store.
- Developing proficiency in the point-of-sale system and ensuring transactions are processed according to company policies and procedures.
- Maintaining the integrity of POS processes through attention to detail and compliance.
- Supporting management with general day-to-day store maintenance.
- Serving as a front-door Greeter when required during particularly busy trading periods.
- Safekeeping company assets and reporting any concerns appropriately.
- Performing additional store duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Matric certificate.
- 2–4 years of retail experience.
The ideal candidate should also demonstrate:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong people and communication skills.
- Ability to understand and sell according to customer needs.
- A strong focus on achieving sales targets.
- High energy levels and enthusiasm for a busy retail environment.
